Our tree farms in New Hampshire have been developed to provide excellent growing conditions. Most tree companies purchase seedlings from nurseries, but at Sibgo Tree Company we plant from seed to ensure maximum quality control.

Throughout the growing season, we do everything we can to help our seedlings grow into perfect trees. This includes fertilizing, and controlling grass, weeds, diseases and insects. We seek to minimize the use of pesticides by using mowing, cultivating, and other practices that will promote the growth of healthy, disease-resistant trees.

We take special care of our young trees.

Christmas trees are harvested only after a minimum of twelve years of our care. The full, bushy form and graceful taper of the ideal Christmas tree are the result of thoughtful, well-timed shearing and basal pruning. At Sibgo Tree Company we offer heavily needled trees that have been pruned to achieve a traditional, yet natural form. Shearing shapes the tree and controls growth.

For example, cutting the end of the top stem stops vertical growth and prevents unsightly spaces between whorls. Proper shearing of side branches produces dense, conical-shaped trees. Correct basal pruning removes lower branches up to a dominant whorl. This creates better air circulation and ensures effective fertilization, resulting in healthier trees. Basal pruning also creates a smaller tree butt, so your customers will not have to do any additional trimming to fit the tree to the stand.

All of our trees have a lovely blue color, rich fragrance, and good needle retention. Our wide variety of high quality Christmas trees includes Fraser, Balsam, and Fralsam (a fraser-balsam cross).

The later a tree is cut, the better it is able to retain water. (Did you know that if a tree loses 40% of its moisture it will never recover?) Since we are located in New Hampshire, we cut our trees later in the season than many other growers. In addition, we do everything we can to minimize loss of moisture. For example, we interlock the tops of the trees after cutting to prevent drying.
